Terpene Profile

Terpene Profile

What is most important about a terpene profile of a product?

I think what’s most important is that we know that it actually is the terpene profile of that particular product. Something like Blue Dream could be anything. You know, I, I read recently that there’s actually a “hashtag fuck Blue Dream” movement because Blue Dream has become so watered down as a strain that nobody really knows how it’s gonna present anymore. Is it a sativa? Is it an indica? It’s so hybridized it could present as either at different times in different growers’ hands. So when we look up these strains and we read what the terpene profile is supposed to be – the terpene profile of the genotype – that doesn’t necessarily indicate how that particular crop presents. From crop to crop, even if they’re coming from genetically identical clones, these balances are going to be different. There’s gonna be more or less of each of these different terpenes due to light, airflow, humidity, nutrients and a host of other choices the grower might make throughout the plant’s growth cycle. So the most important thing about a terpene profile is that it’s an accurate profile, that it’s actually lab tested from the same crop.
