While we all want the Best Ways to Stay Safe This 420 in New Mexico, and you can certainly avoid the rush by finding your favorite delivery, many folks want to have fun at a event like they have scene in big cities such as Denver, CO. Today we speak with Monk if his past experience with 420 events in New Mexico.
What is typically trending in sales during 4/20 that’s noteworthy? Other than lots of flower being purchased in Santa Fe, New Mexico?
Nothing really that I’ve seen in Santa Fe, New Mexico when it comes to events to the quality level of bigger cities but it is getting better. I mean, people aren’t after a certain product or mode of ingestion.
I thought that specialty items like infused pre-rolls with oil and keif might be big, but we’re living in a post covid world where people don’t share joints like they used to. It’s not like you could bring a $35 infused joint to a party and pass it around comfortably. So those aren’t really moving. What I see on 4/20 is more sales, but small sales. It’s from people coming in buying a pre-roll or two grams. The big sales, the 400, 600 and occasional thousand dollars sale, those don’t seem to happen on 4/20. Maybe it’s because that’s an older population that makes those purchases, or maybe because they are med card holders. It may be because 4/20 doesn’t really signify anything and there aren’t any events. Stores have 4/20 sales, but they’re trying to have sales every day. So it’s not that big a deal. Customers can just get it tomorrow if they don’t get it on 4/20. What would be nice is if there were events on 4/20; if there was an outdoor events that was cannabis centric at the Railyard or somewhere to pull the town together, with an onsite use license so people can consume on the premises. Then we might see more sales here on 4/20. But we’re just not there yet.
Is there a particular type of flower purchased more than others on 4/20?
Indica. Anything with the name Kush in it, even if it’s an OG Kush that’s a hybrid. People largely want the familiar names, and go for known entities. Heirloom strains. Legendary stains. – Monk
