What Business Networking or B2B Groups Can New Companies Connect With in New Mexico?

Yeah, it’s kind of interesting because again, it might go back to the amount of dispensaries that are chasing a limited amount of customers. Certainly you can look at all of these dispensary groups. They all have places on the Texas border. You can go out near Clovis and there’s probably about 10 dispensaries out there right off of I 40. Again, up and down that whole corridor where Texans are coming in, they’re being served. I think there’s a Dispensary owners group…at least I was told at one time there was but I’m not close enough to it now to know. There is a Cannabis Chamber of Commerce, but I don’t think they’re doing anything except on the regulatory end…which is vital to be sure. I haven’t seen too much of the various stakeholders developing many networking events. At least nothing like we’ve experienced with the Sensi in Colorado. I’d love to see if we could entice them here as they’ve the experience and wherewithal to have a great chance to be successful.

Any Reviews of Cannabis Events, Expos or Magazines in 2023?

There was a pretty large convention/ trade show back in the spring in Albuquerque that brought together lots of people in the business, from around the state, and even many of out-of-state folks with the clones/seeds, with grow systems, some ancillary businesses, etc.

In terms of a dedicated media hub I’ve not seen it. There is a magazine based in Albuquerque called KURPLE, but I’ve not seen any big impact. To me, it reminds me of the stuff back in the old days when it was all underground. So in terms of professional organization…a genuine media hub providing a cohesive series of events and overall industry promotion I think the atmosphere is ripe for it, but I haven’t seen anybody step up to the plate.

We actually tried to get a media partner, one of the…I think they’re called community-based newspapers or the alternative city-based media to partner up with us to get them interested in doing something like that. Unfortunately, they just don’t have the manpower or the bandwidth to do something like that. But it is going to happen. It most likely will just as with anything else—-If there’s a vacuum, it generally eventually gets filled. Whether it’s going to be relevant and useful certainly remains to be seen.
