The First Crop Team
My role at First Crop is Head of Sales, the official title as a small but mighty team. We all wear several hats. We enjoy just really deep, strong teamwork and work as a very nimble crew. And so yeah, I’m the boots on the ground in New Mexico, if you will, the person who shakes the babies and kisses the hands. We have a solid team of three that are full-time. We have a marketing, excuse me, a digital assets producer who is part-time, and then we just brought on another part-time person. So we got two part-time and three. I think the different skill sets that we all possess, the three of us overlap in so many places that we really are able to support each other in a very, very efficient and communicative manner. So it’s a lot of fun.
How Wide Is First Crop’s Current Reach?
Just New Mexico with first crop, New Mexico and the gummy line in the recreational space that we’re working with and producing now. Then we also have ACBD portion of First Crop Incorporated, which has been a nationwide entity for about four or five years now.
How Is the CBD Business Doing in New Mexico?
It’s doing well. It’s coasting in kind of the space it’s been in since we’ve seen some CBD compression in the industry in general. We have some beautiful products that we produce as far as a retail brand. We do bulk wholesale to companies like Novita and other large supplement companies who have a really nice hold in the CBD market and have a nice penetration. So we’ve got a nice differentiation there. We do a lot of really cool work with the farmers. So kind of the format we do with First Crop Incorporated is we teach farmers how to grow hemp. We teach them how to figure out what kind of equipment they use, source seeds. We prefer that they grow with organic practices, though we do have some farmers that aren’t certified. We do have farmers that are certified, so we do all organically grown practice, but only some is certified organic. So we teach them, we really bring hemp to farmers who maybe are thinking about leaving the farm, changing their business model, changing their income stream, and we want to provide that opportunity to grow crop that’s hardy. That’s fairly easy to learn if you’ve got that initial skillset already, and that’s an amazing plant that sequesters carbon and pulls heavy metals out of the ground and it’s just a beautiful regenerative plant. So First Crop Incorporated is a regenerative, intentionally aligned company that wants to grow more hemp in the world.
